A Treasure Worth Seeking

Epilogue"I think I’m going to sell my house."
Lauren rolled onto her side facing JC, his arms circling her naked body, pulling her snug against him. "Your house next door?"
"Yeah. I mean…I’ve been thinking about it for a while and since all of Carrie’s stuff is already over here…"
She rested her head on his shoulder for a moment, trying to imagine some stranger living in JC’s house. "Are you sure? I just can’t see walking out onto the porch and seeing some strange person over there."
"Yeah… We do have a few memories of that old place huh?" He grinned.
"It’s where we made love for the first time."
"And that chaise…"
"The chaise stays. I’ll move out the table and put it in the kitchen before I let the chaise leave."
JC chuckled softly. "What if you knew the people that were buying it? Would that make you feel any better?"
"Why? Have you already got someone lined up?"
"Well…I think Joey and Ami want to buy it."
Lauren rose on her elbow and smiled down at him. "For real?"
"Yep."
"Oh my god! That would be so perfect!"
"So I take if you are okay with the idea?" he chuckled.
"I can’t wait!"
"Well, they wouldn’t live there permanently but we’ll see them more than we ever want to, I’m sure."
She giggled, snuggling back down into bed beside her lover. A soft squeak brought her head back up as she looked toward the door.
"C?" a tiny voice asked curiously.
He smiled sitting up in bed and gesturing for the child to come to him. "I’m here honey."
"I thought you had left."
"Nope." He leaned over the edge of the bed, lifting her up and sitting her on the blanket between his and Lauren’s bodies. "I’m not going away at all."
Her face split into an excited grin. "You’re not?"
"No ma’am. And if I do, I’m taking you and your mommy with me!"
She catapulted onto his chest, her tiny arms wrapping his neck like a vice. "Yay!" They all laughed at the child’s excitement, JC tucking her into the bed between them and the three of them snuggling up close. Lauren was just beginning to drift off to sleep, thinking Caroline and JC had already done so when she felt her daughters hand rest softly on her cheek.
"I love you, Mommy."
"I love too, baby."
Caroline shifted. "I love you, C."
"My Sweet Caroline, I love you too."
The End
